Suzhou Cultural Residence: Where Timeless Heritage Meets Modern VisionNestled within the storied lanes of historic Suzhou, the Suzhou Cultural Residence stands as a testament to architectural dialogue. The vision? To craft a home that not only honors the city's rich Ming and Qing dynasty heritage—its iconic waterways and classical gardens—but also embraces a refreshingly minimalist, contemporary ethos.

M&L's ultra-slim windows and doors showcase how minimalist fenestration, intelligent engineering, and thoughtful detailing unite to create a home living in true harmony with its environment.

The Yangzhou State Guesthouse, a harmonious blend of historical significance and modern elegance, sought to revamp its spaces to reflect a minimalist aesthetic while enhancing functionality. The design approach focused on creating a seamless connection between the interior and the natural surroundings, emphasizing transparency and simplicity.​

Inspired by the Chinese proverb "Water overflows when full; the moon wanes when whole", ​Eight Tenths Garden​ embodies the Taoist principle of restraint — leaving 20% "unfilled" to harmonize heritage and modernity, nature and urbanity.
Historical Context:
Originally a 1930s private garden in the Jiangnan tradition, the site had languished for decades. Its revival reinterprets classical Chinese garden principles — asymmetry, borrowed scenery (JieJing), and seasonal contemplation — through contemporary engineering and minimalist design.
